Due to our upcoming (1 week away!) move to Bowling Green, we are trying to sell our house here in Lexington. I’ve heard people say to make cookies right before someone comes to see the house because it makes the house smell nice and homey. So, being the brilliant thinker I am, I decided to go ahead and mix up a batch of our favorite chocolate chip cookies and keep them in the fridge so I could just spoon a few out really quickly when someone wants to come see the house.
Well…on Wednesday I got recruited to teach the 2 year old class at church at the last minute so I used some of the dough to make their snacks, on Thursday someone came to see the house but it was while we were at work so I couldn’t make cookies, and then on Sunday I made a few before our open house (that only 1 couple came to), and yet…the whole batch of cookie dough is gone?!?!?!? Yep, that’s right, I ate it all over the course of the week. You know how it is, a spoonful here, and pinch there, and little sweetness when I get home from work…and all the cookie dough is gone. Yikes! *hangs head in shame*
So…having cookie dough on hand to use to make the house smell good for prospective buyers and as an emergency snack for church, that works for me. Having cookie dough on hand that is tempting and delicious, that doesn’t work for me (or my waistline).
If you have self control, this is a good idea; if you don’t have self control, back away from the cookie dough! So for the rest of our short time in Lexington, if anyone does happen to want to come see our house at a time when we are going to be here, I’ll just be grabbing some break-and-bakes from Kroger to make the house smell yummy.
The chocolate chip cookie recipe is just the basic one on the back of the Toll House chocolate chip bag, but it is Michael’s favorite so I’ll share in case you are unacquainted with this easy recipe.
