9 weeks pregnant…sweet baby is about an inch long and approximately the size of a grape – isn’t that crazy to think about?! Supposedly he or she is moving a lot in there but obviously I can’t feel it yet.
I got a nice little reprieve from the nausea and general yuckiness for about three days…but sadly that didn’t last. I thought I might have been over the worst of it but apparently not. That being said, it hasn’t been awful this week; it’s pretty minor and just a slight annoyance every now and then. Now the heartburn…that is another story! It hasn’t been miserable, but it’s definitely painful – especially at night! A friend suggested apple cider vinegar as a natural heartburn relief, but I just haven’t been able to give it a try ’cause it sounds so nasty! I may just have to suck it up and give it a try though.
My swelling seems to be much better this week. I think it’s because I’ve been much less nauseous and so I’ve been able to drink a lot more water. We’ll see if the swelling comes back plus some next week while I’m sweating it out at church camp…
In other news, I don’t know why anyone would ever want to wear anything other than maternity pants! Those things are thebomb.com and so comfy! I’m loving them and don’t know if I’ll ever go back :). I’ve been blessed with a ton of maternity clothes that have been given to me or I’ve gotten very cheap at yard sales and such. Most of the stuff is still way too big, but there are a few pieces that fit well enough right now and I’m enjoying them thoroughly.
The dreams. Oh, the dreams! I’ve heard that pregnancy dreams are very vivid but this has just been crazy! Just about every night I have a bizarre dream. Here are some examples:
- I dreamed that we lived in an apartment and cockroaches and mice started busting out of the wall. I was sitting on the bed while Michael was dealing with the “problem” in the kitchen when all of the sudden a mouse ran right across the bedroom floor at me. (I woke up from that dream in the middle of the night absolutely terrified! It took me a good while to realize that the mice and cockroaches were not in our house.)
- Another night I dreamed that I had a blonde pixie haircut. (Don’t worry, I certainly don’t plan to cut or dye my hair anytime soon)
- One particularly vivid dream was that my mom was taking a practical living class, complete with fake baby (you know, the kind that high schools use) and a small, fluffy, white dog. Her big final project for the class was to put together a whole Thanksgiving meal. She received a big box in the mail with all the ingredients and decorations she would need and then had to cook the meal. I thought she had several days to get it done but it turned out she only had about 30 minutes so we were scrambling trying to mash potatoes and cook rolls and get it all done. One of the funniest things was that she had this really ornate dining room table with big white upholstered dining room chairs – completely the opposite of her decorating style!
- Last night, I dreamed that my friend Renee and some of her friends (who I didn’t know) had gone out west (Colorado maybe?) to run a marathon. On a whim I decided to join them, so I hopped on a plane and just jumped in running with them after they had already started the race. I didn’t have anything other than the clothes I was wearing and my tennis shoes…no water, nothing. So we ran and ran and ran, but it wasn’t like any “normal” marathon. There were odd obstacles like running through hallways and up and down stairs in some underground buildings. We would stop at different times to be served lunch or have a big “meeting” with all the other runners. And then I found out that it was actually a 3-day thing. You ran for hours three days in a row, with all those weird stops for meals and things, but then went back to a hotel to sleep in between. But somehow at the end I guess you would have finished a marathon. I was going to stay and keep running but I realized that it overlapped with church camp so I had to get on a plane and go back home so I could get to camp.
Oddly enough not a single one of my dreams has been about pregnancy, babies, or anything of the like.
And that’s about it. Week 9 hasn’t really been all that different from weeks 6, 7, and 8. Now it’s time for sweet baby and me to get ready to head off to church camp next week!
