How far along: 14 weeks
How big is baby: The size of a lemon – about 3.5 inches long and weighs about 1.5 ounces.
My symptoms: I’m not sure if this is a pregnancy symptom or something totally unrelated, but I’ve had several headaches this week and that is very unusual for me. I’ve been a little tired in the evenings – this was my first week back to work after summer break and it has worn me out a little.
There are still a few things that I don’t like to smell, but I’m mostly back to normal with my smells and nausea. Michael has been able to cook breakfast the past two mornings for breakfast without me having to evacuate the house! Not only that, but I’ve been able to eat said bacon after he cooked some. Yay for a bit of normalcy!
Weight/belly: Belly is definitely poking out there! I’m looking less like I had a few too many brownies and more like I’ve actually got a baby in there. I’m loving my baby belly and I catch myself rubbing it a lot.
Movement: Not yet.
Food cravings: O’Charley’s potato soup. I think I’ve had it three times in the last week! However, now that we’re back from vacation I’ve started back eating mostly whole, organic foods (i.e. the way we used to eat pre-pregnancy). I’m hoping to be much healthier from here on out than I have been for the first trimester!
Food aversions: I don’t think there was anything this week that I had problems with. I still don’t want anything minty, but that’s about it.
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping great other than the multiple bathroom visits in the middle of the night. Waking up for work earlier than I’d gotten used to this summer has been a bit hard, so I need to try to get to bed earlier at night.
Best moment(s) this week: Getting back to the gym this week. I’ve basically taken a gym hiatus this summer, and I’ve still only gone once so far this week (planning to go again tonight, though) but I’m just glad to have gotten there. I’m really planning and hoping to get back to a semi-regular gym routine. Even if I can’t go as hard as I used to, I know even a little exercise will still be beneficial to me and baby.
Also we signed up for our childbirth classes last week. I’m nervous and excited!
What I’m looking forward to: We go on Monday to hear the heartbeat and I’m excited! Everyone says it is just one of the coolest things ever.
Baby items purchased: None purchased, but we did get our first baby gifts a few weeks ago that I completely forgot to mention in last weeks’ post! My sweet friend Amy got me a diaper bag. Little did she know that I’d been admiring that very same bag since I’d seen another friend’s over a year ago! It is beautiful and I can’t wait to use it!
Also, my brother just got back from a mission trip to central America, and he brought back some presents for his new niece or nephew: some handcrafted sandals and a turtle stuffed animal. They are so so adorable! And how smart was he to pick some gender neutral sandals that can be worn by a boy or girl? Thanks Uncle Riley!
Thoughts: I just can’t believe how fast everything is going! I feel like I just found out I was pregnant and here I am over a third of the way through! Also, I’m loving that there are several other pregnant girls at church right now. It’s nice to have other people to talk to and not feel like you’re boring them to tears with pregnancy related stuff. Also, they are all a little further along than me and it’s fun to get to see and hear from them what I’ll be experiencing in the coming weeks.
