While all of my kids’ quilts are very special to me, Everly’s has an additional aspect that the boys’ didn’t have. Some of the fabric from her quilt was actually the leftover polka dot fabric from my flower girls’ dresses in my wedding. I’ve been saving it all these years and intended that someday if I ever had a girl her quilt and decorations for her room would be made out of/inspired by that fabric.
I also have some of the coral linen that my bridesmaids’ dresses were made out of. I didn’t use that in the quilt (not exactly sure if linen would work well in a quilt!) but might use it for some curtains or a dress for Everly or something someday.

Because I always had in the back of my mind that someday I might be making a pink/coral/sunset-ish quilt, I’ve bought other coordinating fabrics over the years as I came across them. Then when I got ready to actually start her quilt I made a trip to my favorite fabric store to get more to round it out.
I looked all over Pinterest to try to decide what I wanted her quilt to look like and finally decided to do with triangles. I found a couple of tutorials here and here that I used as my “pattern”.
Piecing the top (I do that part on the machine) went really quickly, as did the back. Then I started the quilting (I do that by hand) which takes considerably longer but I took it on vacation with me and worked on it during naptime and after the kids were in bed and got most of it knocked out during that week.
Last was signing it and doing the binding and voila! Another quilt done just waiting for a baby girl to arrive!
The pictures don’t do it justice! I have had SUCH a hard time capturing the vibrant pinks and corals without it looking all yellowish. I wish you could see it in person – absolutely gorgeous!
Here is Everly’s quilt side-by-side with the boys’ (blue and green on the far left is Hudson’s quilt, blue, green, and orange in the middle is Parker’s quilt)
I am so proud of each of these and they are incredibly special to me! I hope that the kids’ treasure them as much as I do.
(P.S. if you want to see more of the step-by-step process I go through when I put a quilt together, check out my InstaStory Highlights on Instagram under the “crafts” category – I captured a lot of the behind the scenes stuff while I was working on it)
