Hudson turned six at the end of January and Parker turned four at the beginning of February – as usual we did a joint birthday party for them. They are all about police right now so naturally this year we did a police themed party.

Police Party Invitations
I found a free editable police themed invitation online and used that to make the invitations. The website was super sketchy though and after I’d made the invitations I realized that they completely ripped off someone else’s police birthday party invitation sooooo I’m not going to link to the one I used as I feel like they weren’t ethical. However, this is a really simple invitation that you could easily make in PicMonkey!
Police Party Decorations
As we’ve done for several years we had the main party at a local party place and then had immediate family over for a meal after so we did a little bit of decorating at the party place and a little bit at the house.
I used some red, blue, and yellow streamers and balloons around the house. I bought these police themed metallic hanger things from Amazon and hung them up as well.
And lots of crime scene tape too!
At the party location I used two blue tablecloths (from Michael’s) for the long table and ran the crime scene tape down the middle. Then I sprinkled on some police confetti. So easy.
For the food table I bought a police themed tablecloth and used a little more of the police confetti.

Police Birthday Cake
My favorite part of doing birthday parties – coming up with the cake! There were some cute ideas on Pinterest but most were very professional and outside of my skill set! This is what I finally came up with:
I did a 4 layer, 2 tiered chocolate cake and decorated with some police toys. I bought this cheap set (so I didn’t have to worry about getting icing on them) for the handcuffs, batton, and badge, got some blue candles, and used some play walkie talkies that the boys already had (from here).
The best part, in my opinion, was the flashing blue light. I bought that here and Michael attached it to a battery he already had (that I wrapped in the crime scene tape to camouflage it a little).
It was so cool! It was really hard to get a picture of it but it flashed/strobed on the top of the cake.

Police Party Food
Since the party was from 3-5pm we just had a few small snacks to go with the cake.
Our snacks were very simple. We had:
- “cop-corn” (popcorn)
- “tossed in jail fruit salad” (strawberries and grapes)
- a veggie tray with broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, and ranch dip
I printed the free labels from this blog post.
The platters and serving utensils were a mix of things I already had at the house and a few I grabbed at Hobby Lobby.
And that was it! I did not get around to making them shirts this year like I have in the past (I really wanted to make them these but quickly realized my Silhouette skills are not quite that advanced yet) but I don’t think they minded at all! They did get matching light up police rain boots so they thought that was pretty cool.
Happy birthday to my favorite policemen!
