Mineral Sunscreen Lotion
I am SO happy to have a natural sunscreen from the company that I love so much!
- mineral based
- no nanoparticles
- water resistant and sweat resistant for 80 minutes
- dermatologist approved
- contains essential oils (helichrysum, lavender, Northern Lights black spruce, ylang ylang, myrrh, carrot seed, German chamomile, and frankincense)
- SPF 10
- broad spectrum
- has been tested and shown safe for use with babies and children older than 6 months
- no wheat-derived ingredients used in the product formulation but the product itself has not been tested and certified as gluten free
Some notes about this sunscreen
– Some people have been concerned about the fact that there is “only” an SPF of 10. SPF of 10 means you can stay out in the sun ten times longer without burning than you could if you did not have any sun protection on so unless you burn within just a few minutes of going outside, you are still getting several hours of sun protection! Most people need to reapply every couple of hours anyway because of swimming, sweat, clothes rubbing the sunscreen off, etc. so you’d probably need to reapply for those reasons before the effectiveness wore off. I also encourage you to read this article about why high SPFs aren’t necessarily better.
– It goes on white but rubs in very quickly (unlike some other non-nano zinc oxide based sunscreens that go on very thick and white, like the Badger Balm brand I have used in past years)
Price: $35.20 retail, $26.75 wholesale, buy it here.
Lavaderm After Sun Spray
If by chance you forget your sunscreen, Young Living now has an amazing product to use for sunburns (and is also supposed to be great for bug bites!)
- dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic
- clinically tested for sensitivity
- aloe moisturizes skin to help prevent peeling
- topical analgesic that uses natural menthol from mint to soothe and cool skin
- provides immediate relief from pain associated with sunburn, minor burns, minor cuts, scrapes, insect bites, and minor skin irritations
- no wheat-derived ingredients used in the product formulation but the product itself has not been tested and certified as gluten free
- vegan friendly
- formulated without alcohol, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, animal-derived ingredients, synthetic preservatives, synthetic fragrances, or synthetic colorants
Key Ingredients
- natural menthol
- lavender essential oil
- helichrysum essential oil
- Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil

Price: $32.57 retail, $24.75 wholesale, see it here
Insect Repellant
Yayyyyy for a natural, effective bug spray!
- dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic
- DEET free
- contains essential oils known for their bug repellant properties
- does not contain parabens, fillers, phthalates, petrochemicals, animal-derived ingredients, synthetic preservatives, synthetic colors, or synthetic fragrances
- 100% plant based formula
- clinically tested for efficacy
- shown to be 30% more effective than other natural insect repellants on the market
- vegan friendly
- gluten free
Ingredients
- sesame oil
- Vitamin E (used to help preserve the product and keep it from going rancid)
- citronella essential oil
- lemongrass essential oil
- rosemary essential oil
- geranium essential oil
- spearmint essential oil
- thyme essential oil
- clove essential oil
Note that the base of the bug repellant is an oil (fatty/carrier oil) so use caution that you don’t get greasy stains on your clothes. It is the consistency of a thin oil (similar to baby oil or Young Living’s massage oil line) and comes in a squeeze container for you to pour some in your hand and rub on your exposed skin.
I think it would work fine in a spray bottle if you wanted to try that (I have put the Cel-Lite Magic oil in a spray bottle before and it’s a similar consistency), just again be careful not to spray it all over your clothes and get grease stains.
Price: $50.99 retail, $38.75 wholesale, see it here

Liz says
I am soon excited about the makeup. I’ve been looking for natural makeup but even the “natural” makeup has some bad stuff in it. Do you know when we will be able to see prices or when we can purchase??
Caitlin says
It’s available to purchase today!
Sarah says
Unfortunately the price is higher for the makeup now that YL owns it :-(
Caitlin says
Just by a couple of dollars though, I think, so not a big difference. Plus if you order is on Essential Rewards you get 10-25% back so I’m guessing that would more than make up the difference!
Lee Moss says
Js the sunscreen safe to use during pregnancy?
Caitlin says
I would feel totally comfortable using it while pregnant.
