Y’all.  It is so SO easy to make adorable customized DIY baggie toppers!  These are perfect for birthday party favors, snack bags, holiday treats, and more!  And they make a huge difference too – they turn a boring old Ziploc baggie of snacks into something that looks special and thoughtful.

DIY easy baggie toppers with PicMonkey for birthday parties, holidays, treats, and more

DIY baggie toppers using PicMonkey

I made these cute baggie toppers for Einkorn granola I was giving out as party favors for an event I did with my oils team but you can make these for ANYTHING!

DIY Baggie Toppers

I use PicMonkey for pretty much all my graphic making needs and this project was no different.

This tutorial shows how to make a topper that will fit the snack size Ziploc bags, which are 6.5 inches wide.  This would also fit the sandwich size bags (not sure about quart, I haven’t measured those) or can be adjusted for smaller or larger bags.

Step 1: On the home page of picmonkey.com hover over the “design” icon at the top and then select “custom size”.

Step 2: For the snack size (or sandwich size) baggies, use a custom size of 1300 x 800 pixels.  That will give you a rectangle that has sides the same ratio as a 6.5 inch x 4 inch rectangle (which is what we want for our topper)

If you need a different size topper you’ll have to do a bit of math to figure out what pixel sizes to use.How to create a custom baggie topper image 2

Step 3: Next you’ll have a screen with a big white rectangle.   You can choose to keep it white (like I did), make it a different color (using the canvas color tool there on the left), or use whatever other background patterns you like. How to create a custom baggie topper image 3

Step 4: Begin typing your text or designing your picture.  You can eyeball it or you can turn on the gridlines there at the bottom.  Using the gridlines will help you see where the bottom half of your rectangle is so you can center your text/design.

Remember: you’ll be folding this in half to staple to the baggie, so you want your design to be on the bottom half of the rectangle unless you want something on both sides.

Note: One of the things I love about PicMonkey is that you can use your own fonts.  They has lots of built in ones but you can also use your own, like I did for this project. How to create a custom baggie topper image 4

Step 5: I added a little border to mine using the dotted overlays PicMonkey provides.  I recommend if you are going with a plain white rectangle to make a border of some kind, otherwise when you print your image it will be hard to tell where exactly your rectangle should end.How to create a custom baggie topper image 5

Step 6: Save your creation to your computer.

(Helpful hint: save it to your PicMonkey Hub as well, now that you’ve got the dimensions set up you can just edit the text and such to change easily make other baggie toppers in the future!)How to create a custom baggie topper image 6

Step 7: Open up Word and drag your baggie topper image into the Word document.  You should be able to fit two on an 8.5×11 document.

(There may a quicker/easier way to do this, but I couldn’t figure out how to make sure my image printed as a 4in x 6.5in rectangle other than doing this, so this is how I did it and it worked perfectly for me)How to create a custom baggie topper image 7

You can confirm that the rectangles are the correct size by clicking on one of the images and looking under the “picture format” option to make sure that it’s right (upper right hand side there). How to create a custom baggie topper image 8

Step 8-11: Print as many as you need (I used white cardstock), cut them out, fold them in half, and staple to the baggies.

Easy peasy and now you have mega cute bags!Einkorn Granola samples with custom baggie toppers
