I think dry shampoo is one of the staples of mom life, along with coffee, yoga pants, and mom buns ;). I have suuuuuper greasy hair so if I skip just one day of washing it’s a total grease pit. Sadly, most dry shampoos out there are filled with yucky harsh chemicals and I don’t want that on my head! So I started making my own and it’s so easy with just a few ingredients you probably already have in your cabinet! Here’s how I make my DIY dry shampoo!

DIY dry shampoo
Step 1:
Start with the base ingredient: cornstarch
(Yep! That’s it)
Step 2:
Add color.
👩🏼 👩🏻🦳For blonde/gray/white hair you should be able to leave it as is with just cornstarch
👩🏻 👩🏽For brown hair add cocoa powder or Savvy Minerals multitasker
👩🏻🦰 For red hair add cinnamon or one of the lighter Savvy Minerals Multitasker shades
(No particular amount of any of these, just eyeball it)
Step 3
Add essential oils of choice:
• I added peppermint to my cornstarch + cocoa powder mixture to make it smell like mint chocolate
• Rosemary, cedarwood, and/or lavender are good options to support healthy hair growth
• Palmarosa helps regulate sebum so that or any blend containing palmarosa (like Harmony) are good to help with the greasiness
• …or whatever other oils smell good to you!
I apply to the roots of my hair with an old makeup brush and massage it in with my fingertips.
