State Plate match up with Notgrass Our 50 States curriculum

If you are using Notgrass’ Our 50 States curriculum, you need to check out the series State Plate on Amazon!  It’s the perfect  addition!  State Plate has an episode for each state where they highlight some of the iconic dishes from that state.  Everyone in my family loves watching it – it’s so fascinating to learn the history behind each dish, what makes it unique to that state, and see how it’s made.

After we read the chapters about a state in Our 50 States we watch the corresponding State Plate episode. There are three seasons and I was getting tired of having to scroll through each season to find the state we were ready to watch so I made a match up to make life easier for me this year.

I’ve listed the states in the order they appear in Our 50 States and then the State Plate season and episode for that state.

Tip: We also have been enjoying the Homeschool Pop videos on YouTube about each state.  They’re 5-7 minutes long and give some facts about the state – state bird, state nicknames, state flag, major cities, etc.  We usually watch the Homeschool Pop video followed by the State Plate for that state.
