Sugar POP Quilt in the Most Gorgeous Colors

A few months ago I finished up a Sugar POP quilt by Suzy Quilts and it has become my favorite quilt I’ve made so far.  Something about the colors I choose – they’re so pleasing to my eye and I’m just in love with them!

Don’t they just scream “summer”?!  I feel like the pink/coral/orange section is like a summer sunset while the purple/blue/teal is like a summery mermaid.

I hand quilted the colorful stripes with straight lines using 8 matching colors but contrasting them in pairs (light pink thread on the dark pink stripe/dark pink thread on the light pink stripe; coral thread on the orangeish stripe, tangerine thread on the coral stripe, etc.)

Then I had some fun experimenting with the quilting in the white triangle sections and I came up with a criss cross square type thing.

In the white triangles connected to the pink/coral/orange I used the dark pink, light pink, coral, and tangerine thread I’d used in the stripes to quilt the criss cross squares.  It’s hard to see in this picture but the colors criss cross in almost a plaid effect.

And in the white triangles connected to the purple/blue/teal sections I used purple, deep fuchsia, blue, and teal thread for my criss cross pattern.

I’m so thrilled with how it came out!
