Every year in December we pause our usual school work and do “Christmas school” instead. It is one of the highlights of our school year! Until this year we haven’t used any formal curriculum or plan outside of what I came up with on my own (maybe sometime I’ll do a post about what our simple Christmas school plan looked like during those years). That was fun and relaxing and exactly what I wanted at the time but this year I decided I want to do something a little more structured.
I have been researching Christmas school options for several months (yes, I started dreaming about Christmas back in August ;) ) and let me tell you, there are a TON of options out there! As I’ve researched I’ve been keeping notes for myself, but after sharing some of those notes with several other moms who were looking for Christmas school options I decided why not turn that into a blog post for everyone! Hopefully this will be beneficial to other parents who are trying to pick what to do for Christmas school. So here’s a round up of a BUNCH of great Christmas school options I’ve collected.

Disclaimers & Notes
Some things you should know before we begin:
ONE. As of me writing this (Nov 2025) I have not purchased or used any of these. These are the notes I’ve made based on my research but are not based on personal experience. In fact, I am still undecided on what exactly we’re going to do use this year – I have a few things I want to use but am still trying to make a final plan and I’m hoping typing all this out and organizing my thoughts will help me come to a decision!
So these are my personal notes but are not necessarily recommendations and I’m not endorsing these products (so use your own judgment!).
TWO. I realize there are a million Christmas school-ish options out there and I’m sure I’ve just barely scratched the surface, but these are the ones that I found when I was researching for myself. As I stumble upon others I’ll try to keep updating this post with more resources. But this is not an exhaustive list.
THREE. My kids are 11, 9, 7, and 4 so that’s the age range I’m looking for. I think most Christmas school options are written to be done as a family so they should work for all ages but it bears mentioning that my focus was on those ages.
FOUR. This is your reminder that you do NOT have to do any sort of formal Christmas school! If you’re feeling overwhelmed or money is tight or just don’t want to do add in another thing…don’t feel like you have to! Christmas school should be a blessing, not a burden.
The last few years life has been chaotic for me so we did Christmas school in December but it was very simple and I came up with it myself using things we already had. I didn’t have the space or desire to do the research, pick from the bajillion options, print stuff, and follow a plan or schedule. So I didn’t. And we had a fantastic December and my kids talk year ’round about how much they love Christmas school. You can absolutely have a wonderful Christmas school without a lot of extra stuff. This year I have the headspace and it sounds fun to me to do a more formal, structured study so I am, but I wanted to make sure you didn’t see all these resources I’ve gathered and feel like you have to use one of these in order to have a great Christmas school.
FIVE. And finally, my affiliate disclosure. I am not associated with the majority of these companies or recommending/endorsing their products (just sharing my findings) so most of these links are not affiliates but there are a few so I need to give that disclosure. If you purchase a product through an affiliate link I make a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you!
Ok…on to the good stuff!!
What are your Christmas school goals?
Before you start looking for Christmas school curriculum one of the first things you should think about as you’re making your Christmas school plan is what your goal is for the month of December. For example, are you looking for an all-in-one curriculum that covers subjects like reading comprehension, writing, science, etc.? Do you want something that’s heavy on crafts and baking? Do you want something heavily religious, lightly religious, or secular? Do your kids believe in Santa and if so, do you want to avoid anything that might spoil that? Is there a particular topic you’d like to focus on, like Christmas around the world or history of Christmas or Jesus’ birth or a specific book? Digital or something that will be mailed to you?
Having an idea in mind of what you might want will help you narrow down your search.
There are a lot of different “vibes” of Christmas school options out there! Which is good, but also overwhelming.
In order to try to help you (and myself and I try to make this decision too!) I’ve split my findings into various categories such as general Christmas studies, Christmas Around the World, studies focusing on Jesus’ birth, novel studies, etc. Scroll through this post and glance at the bold headings to find the different categories.
All in One studies
If you know right off the bat that you want an all-in-one study that includes basically everything you need (minus some picture books) for a full Christmas school, these are the companies I’d look at first:
- Gather ‘Round Homeschool
- Treehouse Schoolhouse
- Brighter Day Press
- Campfire Curriculums
- Waldock Way
- Little House Learning Co.
All of these (each are linked below in their respective categories – most of these companies offer more than one Christmas school option) will cover pretty much all your subjects and contain plenty of material for a full month of study.
These aren’t the only all-in-one options but they’re the ones that are most well known and showed up the most in my research.
General Christmas studies
These Christmas school studies don’t have a particular theme or focus. They may have some parts that are focused on Jesus’ birth but the whole study isn’t about that (studies specifically about Jesus’ birth are linked in a separate section below). These may have a hymn to study but aren’t a dedicated hymn study (dedicated hymn studies are linked below as well).
- A Connected Christmas (Treehouse Schoolhouse) – Includes daily/weekly scripture, hymns, art studies, poems, picture book recommendations, handcrafts/recipes. Print or digital.
- A Connected Christmas, Vol. 2 (Treehouse Schoolhouse) – Same format as the first Connected Christmas just with different books, poems, hymns, etc. Print or Digital.

Religion is discussed in historical context but this is an overall secular study. Specifically states that it doesn’t ruin the magic of Santa. Includes crafts, baking, etc., also includes .mp3s of the content being read. Digital only.
- Christmas around the World Passport activity (Etsy) – Covers Mexico, Poland , Germany , Philippines, Austria, Russia, Iceland, South Africa, France, Norway, Denmark, Australia, Netherlands, The North Pole. Includes book lists and recipes, does not appear to have crafts/activities. Not as involved as some of the other full curriculum options but also much cheaper. Appears to be secular. Digital only.
- Christmas Holidays around the World (Etsy) – Not a full study, just one page of facts per country and one worksheet per country, but much cheaper/simpler than some of the other options.
- Christmas Around the World Unit study – Not a lot of details on this one but it has recipes, crafts, etc. Inexpensive but requires purchasing this book as the spine of the study. Digital only.
- FREE Christmas around the World option from Confessions of a Homeschooler – not as detailed as the others but, free!

Bible studies
I’m separating this out from the “Studies Focused on Jesus’ Birth” section. There are definitely similarities between these two sections but the main difference is that this section contains dedicated Bible studies that are Christmas-related and the “Studies Focused on Jesus’ Birth” is more of a full curriculum with additional activities, books, etc. These Bible studies could be used as an addition to other Christmas school components but I wouldn’t consider them an all-in-one Christmas school curriculum.
- Truth in the Tinsel – Walks through the full “Christmas story”, starting with prophesies in Isaiah. Each day you make an ornament that goes along with that day’s reading. Especially good for younger kids. Digital only.

Read Aloud/Book Suggestions
These are books that are either designed to be read in an advent/countdown fashion (aka one reading per day for the month of December) or could be used as a portion of Christmas school, especially for families piecing together their own instead of using an all-in-one study.

- Jotham’s Journey (and other books in the series) – Read one chapter a day of this historical fiction book following a boy named Jotham who is journeying to find his lost family and along the way finds the newborn Savior. This book comes highly recommended but there is some violence/scariness so might not be appropriate for younger listeners.

Did that help?
I know this post is both overwhelming (SO.MANY.OPTIONS.) yet also not complete (there are so many more Christmas-y devotionals, books, unit studies, etc. out there!) but I hope it gives you a place to start. I feel like I got most of the popular options that I saw recommended the most as well as some more obscure ones that I stumbled on during my research.
And I was right – compiling, sorting, and organizing all this info helped me to narrow down what I want to do for Christmas school this year. That’ll be a blog post for another time because I still have a few decisions to make, so stay tuned!
If you have other Christmas school recommendations, I’d love for you to leave a comment and share!

You've heard what I have to say...now I want to hear your thoughts!
